17th Pharmacology Day of the Hellenic Society of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (17 May 2025)
The 17th Pharmacology Day of the Hellenic Society of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology was held on 17 May 2025 at the Department of Pharmacy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), Zografou Campus, Greece.
The scientific program featured a round-table discussion on clinical trials in Greece and the role of pharmacologists, with contributions from E. Manolopoulos (moderator), Leonidas Klironomos, Giorgos Papazisis, Konstantinos Tambakopoulos, and Dionysios Vrachnis-Konstantinos Stratakis on topics like early-phase studies, pharmacology in trials, and novel therapies for Cushing’s syndrome. Keynote lectures included Giannis Charalampopoulos on pharmacological approaches to neurodegenerative diseases exploiting neurotrophins and Taxiarchis Katsinelos on Tau aggregation systems.
Young investigators presented oral communications on protective roles of MPST/H2S in metabolic syndrome, glucose neurotoxicity via p75NTR, genetic variations in COPD treatment response, perturbation modeling in single-cell data, analytical chemistry in pharmacology, angiogenesis inhibitors’ effects on VEGFR2, targeting P90RSK for anticancer therapies, and light chain-associated cardiovascular toxicity via IRE-1/NF-kB/ICAM-1. The event included poster sessions, a tribute and awards in memory of Ioanna Andreadou presented by Andreas Papapetropoulos, and concluded with the society’s general assembly and board elections.
The day promoted dialogue on clinical research, neurodegeneration, metabolic disorders, and innovative pharmacological strategies among Greek pharmacologists and experts.
