HSBCP proposed hosting the EPHAR meeting during the 2018 EPHAR Council meeting in Spain and subsequently organized the conference in Athens in 2024. The event attracted 501 delegates from 60 countries across five continents. EPHAR member societies contributed by organizing sessions covering a wide range of pharmacology topics. HSBCP organized and sponsored a dedicated session titled “Molecular Pharmacology of Angiogenesis and Cancer.”
The 9th European Congress of Pharmacology (EPHAR 2024) brought together leading scientists and researchers from across Europe and beyond, showcasing the latest advances in basic, translational, and clinical pharmacology. The congress covered a broad spectrum of research areas, highlighting the evolving role of pharmacology in understanding disease mechanisms and developing innovative therapeutic strategies.
Scientific sessions included oral communications and poster presentations focusing on cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, inflammation, cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, pain management, and pharmacogenomics. Particular emphasis was placed on the identification of novel molecular targets, the development of next-generation biologics, and the repurposing of established drugs for new therapeutic indications.
Overall, EPHAR 2024 reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge pharmacological research, underscoring its critical contribution to personalized medicine and the translation of scientific discoveries into clinically meaningful treatments that improve patient outcomes.
