9th Panhellenic Congress of the Hellenic Society of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (20–22 May 2016)
The 9th Panhellenic Congress of the Hellenic Society of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology took place on 20–22 May 2016 at the Electra Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki, Greece. The meeting brought together pharmacologists, clinicians, researchers, regulatory experts, and students to discuss advances in basic research, drug development, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacoepidemiology.
The scientific program featured plenary lectures by international speakers, including MacDonald Tom (University of Dundee) on pharmacoepidemiology, Marja-Liisa Dahl (Karolinska Institute) on therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacogenomics, Shlomo Sasson (Hebrew University of Jerusalem) on hormetic effects of lipid oxidation products in diabetes, and Slobodan Jankovic (University of Kragujevac) on clinical pharmacology outcomes. Additional highlights included round-table discussions on drug research, development and market access, nanotechnology in cancer therapy, regulatory issues, and prescription control, as well as sessions on molecular targets in the cardiovascular system, free communications, poster presentations, and the inaugural Student Pharmacology Olympiad.
The congress emphasized translational research, regulatory transparency, and education while honoring Professor M. Marselos for his contributions to the field.
