8th Biannual Meeting of the Hellenic (Greek) Society for Basic & Clinical Pharmacology (23–24 May 2014)
The 8th Biannual Meeting of the Hellenic Society for Basic & Clinical Pharmacology was held on 23–24 May 2014 in Athens, Greece. Organized in collaboration with the British Pharmacological Society and the IUPHAR Immunopharmacology Section, the conference brought together researchers, clinicians, young investigators, and industry representatives to explore cutting-edge topics in pharmacology.
The scientific program featured a Young Investigators Forum, dedicated sessions on immunopharmacology (including the newly founded IUPHAR Immunopharmacology Section), academia–industry partnerships and funding opportunities, publishing ethics, pharmacology education, translational research, and cardiovascular pharmacology. Highlights included international keynote lectures by Arthur Christopoulos (Monash University) on GPCR allostery and bias in drug discovery, as well as presentations on nitrate/nitrite therapeutics, HDL in cardiovascular disease, mitochondrial roles in heart disease, and new oral anticoagulants.
The meeting emphasized innovation, collaboration between academia and industry, ethical publishing, and advancements in pharmacology education and drug development, fostering networking and knowledge exchange among Greek and international pharmacologists.
