7th EACPT Summer School in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (19–22 September 2009)
The 7th Summer School of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT) was held on 19–22 September 2009 at the Alexander Beach Hotel in Alexandroupolis, Greece. Jointly organized with the Hellenic Society for Basic and Clinical Pharmacology and hosted by the Department of Pharmacology at Democritus University of Thrace, the event aimed to enhance knowledge and skills for young professionals in clinical pharmacology.
The program covered foundational and emerging topics, including pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, drug interactions, rational prescribing, pharmacoeconomics, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenomics, personalized medicine, clinical trials, biological therapies, and cardiovascular drugs. Highlights included plenary lectures by Ingolf Cascorbi on the evolution of clinical pharmacology, Munir Pirmohamed on adverse drug reactions and pharmacogenomics, Marios Marselos on drug safety, and Nicholas Moore on pharmacoepidemiology, alongside sessions on epigenetics, biomarkers, and ethical/regulatory aspects of trials.
Featuring international faculty from Europe, the school promoted interactive learning, networking, and discussion on translational pharmacology, fostering advancements in therapeutic strategies and personalized care.
