16th Pharmacology Day of the Hellenic Society of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (27 May 2023)
The 16th Pharmacology Day (Ημερίδα) of the Hellenic Society of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology was held on 27 May 2023 in Athens, Greece.
The scientific program featured keynote lectures by Giorgos Liapakis on drug development targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and Evangelia Papadimitriou on new insights into Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase Receptor Zeta 1 as a target in angiogenesis, cancer therapy, and diagnosis. Young investigators presented oral communications on topics including prenatal alcohol exposure and epileptogenesis, GPER1 as a therapeutic target for mood disorders, nitric oxide donors counteracting NMDA receptor blockade-induced deficits, anti-neoplastic effects of mitoxantrone-GnRH conjugates, genetic polymorphisms in COPD, and more. The event also included poster sessions on antioxidant agents, pharmacogenomics, cardioprotection, and novel analytical methods, alongside an honorary session by Giorgos Karakioulakis on university teaching and research evaluation.
The day concluded with the society’s general assembly and board elections, promoting advancements in molecular pharmacology, translational research, and clinical applications among Greek and international scientists.
